Essaouira
Overview
Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador, is a city located on the Atlantic coast
around 170 km from Marrakech. Thanks to its natural, historical and cultural
richness, it is becoming an important tourist center. The Gnawa music festival is
held here every year.
After picking you up from your accommodation, we will set out for the journey
to Essaouira. Before arriving we are going to stop in the countryside, where we
will enjoy an unforgettable view of the argan trees covered by goats. Local people
will also show us the production of rare argan oil. Upon arrival, free time is
planned, which can be used to explore the beauties of the city or admire the local
beaches.
There are many admirable places in Essaouira. One of them is the medina (old
town), which was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001 for its
unusual combination of Moroccan and European styles. Furthermore, we must not
forget the local port, which is full of blue–colored fishing boats. Here you can
enjoy to eat a fresh fish. The port and the old town are lined with the fortifications
of Skala du Port and Skala de la Kasbah, from which there is a beautiful view of
the surroundings.
