Desert of Merzouga 3 days/ 2 nights
Overview
1st day: Marrakech– Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Boulmane Dades
Distance: 300 km
The first day will start early in the morning. We are going to pick you up from
your accomodation on the agreed time. Afterwards, our way will head us to the
heart of the High Atlas Mountains, where we will not miss the mountain pass Tizi
n‘Tichka (2260m). But before we are going to visit 2 berber villages (Ait Berka
& Ait Ben Amer) from where is a beautiful view for surroundings. Then we
continue to the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This ancient building was registered
on the UNESCO world heritage list. It became a popular place for world
filmmakers for making historical films (The Mummy, Gladiator, Lawrence of
Arabia, Game of Thrones). We will spend there a wonderful time with our berber
guide who will say us more about its history. After visiting we will move to
Ouarzazate, it’s famous for its film studios. Here we enjoy our lunch. In the case
you are interested in, you will have some time (30 mins) to visit Cinema museum
or kasbah Taourirt, which are located close to the restaurant. Then we continue
the road to Boulmane Dades. During the way we will pass the Roses Valley (El–
Kelaa Mgouna). Arrival to the hotel, dinner.
Distance: 250 km
After the breakfast we set out for the desert. During the way our driver is going to
take us to the popular gorges – Monkey Fingers (Dades Gorge) and Todgha
Gorge. Then we will move to the town of Tinghir which we explore with the
guide. After visiting, continue to Merzouga. On the way there is a breaktime for
a lunch. Arrival to Merzouga where we will enjoy camel ride through the
fascinating, sand dunes of Erg Chebbi and observing magical sunset you will
never forget. Dinner will be served in the traditional camp where we also spend
the night. At the end of the day is planned entertainment with Berber people by
the fire with folklore dances and traditional music.
3rd day: Merzouga – Fes
Distance: 530 km
Afterwards departure to the oldest city of Morocco – Fes through the beautiful
ZIZ valley. Arrival in the evening.
