Every day, the Essaouira day trip from Marrakech starts at 8:00 am. During the journey, travelers will have two Main stops:
- The Argan forest:
Argan, also known as Harjan or Berber almond, is an extremely rare tree that grows in the center of the Kingdom of Morocco, specifically in the Souss region. It is famous for its oil, considered the rarest type worldwide due to its many benefits.
Argan trees grow abundantly in southern Morocco, covering thousands of hectares in various regions. They can also be found in southwestern Algeria, Mexico, and California, but the ones in the latter two areas do not bear fruit. The Jews of Morocco brought argan fruits to Palestine to cultivate them in the Negev Desert and Wadi Araba.
The ancient Argan tree resists drought and combats desertification. Its oil is used for nutrition, beauty, and medicine, while its by-products are used as livestock feed.
- Female cooperative for the extraction of organ oil:
Several cooperatives located between Essaouira and Marrakech exclusively hire women to work with nuts. This provides around 2000 women with paid employment, which in turn helps them achieve a certain level of financial independence.
Once you arrive in Essaouira, you'll have approximately 5 hours to explore the city and discover its natural, historical, and cultural treasures.
